Microdermabrasion and age spots

The majority of women feel anxiety about their age spots because they look unpleasant; but the main reason they worry about is that sun-damaged skin is considered to be undergone to skin cancer. Popular opinion claims that those who have sun spots, may have skin cancer as well, which is not correct. Age spots show the risk of skin cancer developing, since they are not more than signs of skin severely damaged from sun exposure.

Is microdermabrasion effective for age spots?

Trying to understand action of microdermabrasion on age spots, it’s essential to realize mechanism of its work. Cumulative sun exposure is the main reason of spots. During sun burning, to protect body from the negative influence of UV rays, the skin melanocites evolve melanin (responsible for the coloring of skin pigment).

In time, peculiar areas (often exposed to the sun) are covered with melanin and this way the so-called sun spot occur. The main culpability is cumulative UV influence but melanocites also begin to act incorrect with aging. Skin rejuvenation treatments can fight with liver spots which are formed on the skin surface, so they really do.

During crystal microdermabrasion procedure, stream of micro crystals is sandblasted on the skin and abrading off the melanin stuck part in the spot (but not all of it). Such process also instigates collagen production, so skin density and elasticity are also received.

About 6 to 12 treatments should be applied to fade larger age spots and completely remove smaller ones. After the first 4 microdermabrasions, many age spots can be gone while the larger ones begin to fade. But it’s also essential to repeat the procedures after 2 months.

Microdermabrasion is not always used against age spots, but the results are almost amazing for a non-surgical procedure that is applied in so mild way. It’s really difficult to believe microdermabrasion to be effective when all effects after treatment are stinging and mild redness.

A lot of personal microdermabrasion products are considered to be effective against age spots. Some of them are good for the facial and body rejuvenation, so it’s undoubtedly worth to try.

Skin protection from the sun

The best preventive measures from the age spots formation according to specialists’ opinion are to avoid the sun and use plenty of high SPF each day. To say is easier than to do. But there is no need to worry for those who cannot live without the sun burning, spending their time at the beaches or for people who have already had age spots.
