Crystal microdermabrasion
Crystal microdermabrasion is an innovative skin care procedure that uses a stream of fine crystals directed onto the surface of the skin using a microdermabrasion machine in order to peel and stimulate cell renewal. The particles of the skin which are scrubbed away are vacuumed with the crystals.
The procedure improves skin clarity and minimizes glow and blocked pores, helps to treat acne, scars, fine lines and other imperfections.
Crystal microdermabrasion is suitable for any skin type.
How does it work:
Usually the microdermabrasion machine uses aluminium oxide crystals to peel the skin. The crystals are very small and almost dust like. Despite of this they have an abrasive quality and can remove dead cells from the skin surface. The aluminium oxide crystals are blown onto the skin surface with the force sufficient to rub dead skin cells away. The crystals and debris are then removed by the machine’s wand.
Alluminium oxide is accepted as having no harmful effects. Skin reactions to alluminium oxide are very rare, so it can be used by people who suffer from allergies or who have sensitive skin.
Microdermabrasion crystals:
• Alluminium oxide crystals. These crystals have been the most commonly used for the last 20 years. Alluminium oxide is the second hardest material after the diamonds. Crystals have irregular shape which makes them more effective in abrasion. Alluminium oxide is not toxic and non-carcinogenic and causes no allergy.
• Sodium bicarbonate crystals. These crystals are the organic alternative to aluminium oxide crystals. Sodium bicarbonate crystals are much more softer tan aluminium oxide crystals, that’s why these crystals are more safe and less irritative for the skin, but less effective at the same time. They are usually used in patients with hyperpigmentation treatment.
Duration of the crystal microdermabrasion procedure:
Usually each treatment lasts for about 40 minutes and can be combined with other services. After the procedure your skin can remain slightly red for about 1-2 days. To achieve the desired results and finish the treatment you will need about six to ten procedures. You also may need more procedures for some conditions. The results of the procedure are cumulative so the procedures should be spaced 1 week apart.
What imperfections can be treated with Crystal microdermabrasion:
• Fine lines
• Sun damage
• Brown spots
• Acne scars and blemishes
• Skin discolorations
• Open pores
• Blackheads
• Stretch marks
• Some other problems depending on the individual features
What areas can be treated with Crystal microdermabrasion:
• Face
• Neck
• Decollete
• Chest
• Hands
• Arms and other areas
The Crystal microdermabrasion should be used very carefully in such areas as eye area and skin around the mouth because there is the risk of getting the crystals into your eyes or lungs. The wand of the machine is very accurate but the operator should cover your nose and eyes for more safety.
