Mechanical skin exfoliation
There are three general methods you can use to exfoliate your skin at home: mechanical exfoliation, chemical exfoliation and enzyme exfoliation. Manual mechanical skin exfoliation can be performed using different types of skin peels including exfoliating masks, scrubs, gels, lotions or a soft washcloth. Using any one of these ways of exfoliation you should make sure it matches you skin type and gentle enough not to irritate your skin.
Mechanical skin peel is the most effective and safe for the normal skin, but is mostly unsuitable for sensitive and acne skin types.
Choosing an exfoliator you should remember that it is very important to use only the gentle skin peels and never use body scrubs on your face. Also you should look for scrub with round scrubbing particles which are smooth enough and don’t irritate your skin. These scrubbing particles can be made form the different kinds of natural and synthetic materials, for example fragmented nut shells, jojoba beads or synthetic particles. Usually synthetic particles are more safe because they are round and don’t have such a sharp edges as natural beads.
Other important things to remember are:
- the steam bath before skin peel procedure
- wash your face with cold water after the skin peel
- when you use skin peels too often your skin becomes more sensitive to other skin care products and sun
- you should always use sunscreen cosmetics after the exfoliation
