Exfoliating Cleansers

Exfoliating cleanser is a cosmetic product applied on face. You may find products that are designed for cleansing only. They eliminate dirt and oil from the skin. There are also exfoliants that suit only for skin peeling and removing dead epithelium cells. An exfoliating cleanser combines features of both into one product.

Exfoliant types

Many exfoliant types can be differed. All of them can be divided into two groups: physical and chemical exfoliants. Chemical ones employ chemicals, mostly acids like beta hydroxy acid, alpha hydroxy acid, retinoic (retinol) and fruit acids. They work by removing dead cells on skin. Physical exfoliants are usually harsh and provide sensation of scrubbed off skin. Physical exfoliating cleansers make use of sugar or rough salt, apricot pits, almonds, etc.

Exfoliating cleanser in action

Exfoliating cleansers are capable of improving skin texture and removing dead epithelium cells. They are useful in fighting oily skin and blemishes. Many of them are designed for problem skin while others are formulated specially for sensitive complexion. Sensitive skin owners should be cautious with exfoliants and exfoliant-containing products.

Application frequency

Certain exfoliating cleansers can be applied daily while conventional exfoliants are extremely rough and can’t be used as often. Most exfoliants such as face polishes are recommended for use only once weekly while exfoliating cleansers contain comparatively small amount of exfoliant, which makes them perfect for daily application.

Precautions

Even moderate exfoliating cleansers used daily can dry out the skin. Therefore, it is often advised to substitute exfoliating cleanser with a cleanser with no exfolianting components. Avoid using products that provoke irritations or blemishes.
